My five secrets for a perfect scent

"Mmmm Mirela, you smell so nice!" I get that a lot and I have to admit it's a really nice compliment when someone says they love your fragrance, your scent. I'm using fragrance on any occasion, even to go to bed. In this article I will present my 5 most loved perfumes that I am using whether it is on daily basis, for going out, for parties or any other life events. I pretty much gravitate towards same products that I've known a long time and it's pretty rare I will try a new one and actually start loving it. But, that happened quite a few times. Read until the end where I will reveal a bonus fragrance that is absolutely delish  and wearing it had got me many many compliments throughout the time. 

1. My most favorite: Dior ~ Hypnotic Poison Eau De Toilette. This is my favorite of all fragrances and I wouldn't mind wearing it for the rest of my life (if possible) without needing any other. It is an absolutely stunning scent, it's a classic sweet and spicy signature perfume. It has notes like Coconut, Plum and Apricot, but also Jasmine, Vanilla, Almond, Sandalwood and Musk just to mention a few. It wears really well, very feminine, versatile, addictive sweet, sexy and pretty hypnotic for everyone around you. I prefer the EDT version, although there is a EDP one as well, but it's slightly different and has licorice in it which I really don't like, it's a big no for me. Hypnotic Poison EDT it's so amazing and I wouldn't change anything about it. In three words: warming, comforting, seductive. 

2. My everyday fragrance: Jennifer Lopez ~ Promise Eau De Parfum. I have discovered this perfume last Summer. I received a scented promotional card about it and I was completely mesmerized. I've instantly got hit with nostalgia of a sunny day, swimming or sunbathing by the pool and just enjoying being in nature. I had to order it straight away. It's totally inexpensive, considering it is an Eau de Perfume and it really lasts a long time on skin and much more on clothes. It's fresh, little bit sweet and flowery but not overwhelmingly so and it can be worn literally as an everyday fragrance with no problem. It has captivating notes like Italian Tangerine, Pink Pepper, Jasmine Sambac, Sandalwood and many more  beautifully enclosed in a really neutral tone, little and futuristic designed bottle. It does inspire the scent of a sensual, independent, powerful woman. I've had lots of compliments from people at work as well. It's a feminine, calming scent for a daily perfume, but can be also intriguing and mesmerizing at night. As I like to say: win win. 

3. My holidays choice: Lancome ~ La Vie Est Belle Sparkly. Omg! This fragrance it's one of a kind. I believe it's probably one of the most loved scents in the world. Many women wear it everyday, it's so versatile, gentle and feminine, it smells just like when you go inside a perfumes boutique. Absolutely lush notes added such as: Black Currant, Pear, Iris, Blossom Orange, Vanilla and Patchouli plus some more to achieve sweetness and freshness at the same time. All those combined, result in a fruity and floral smell suitable for holidays, special events, parties etc. Basically perfect for all seasons. The one I am currently using it was launched in 2018 as a Christmas Edition, but believe me it's wearable all year round just as the original version. It's a 100% magnetic and alluring scent and you'll get lots of compliments by wearing it, if you find it's the right one for you. 

4. My going to a party scent: Jean Paul Gaultier ~ Scandal Eau De Parfum. Now this is where we're going to a really intriguing territory of women empowerment, sexuality, attraction, but also fun and festive. As description details, Scandal was designed to break all clichés by offering something new and modern. Overall, it's actually an elegant scent with notes of: Blood Orange, Mandarin, Honey, Jasmine as well as Caramel, Patchouli and Licorice. All together really make up a creamy, powdery, warm and earthly effect. I like to use this perfume mostly for going out at night, as it is very strong and predominant. It last for hours on the skin, probably even on the day after, when you might be doing the 'walk of shame' back home. The bottle it's so beautiful, looks like a fine sculpture, really rich and crafted to perfect details. I do enjoy it so much and sometimes it makes me playback in my mind the lyrics of Beyonce's song Partition: "Est-ce que tu aimes le sexe? Le sexe, je veux dire: l'activité physique." 

5. My feeling special perfume: Dior ~ JOY Eau De Parfum Intense. Even though it's a fairly new fragrance, it has become really popular in the last couple of years. I was skeptical in the beginning thinking it will have a sweet intoxicating scent or maybe too flowery/powdery for my taste, but to my surprise it's actually subtle, moderate and perfectly blending with my skin. It smells divine, it does bring a lot of joy while wearing it and as I mentioned, I do feel so special whenever I put it on. It also adds a rich vibe with notes of Bergamot, Grasse Rose, Vanilla and Musk, that definitely make you feel like a million bucks. The Eau de Perfume Intense it's a tiny bit stronger than the original version and I do wear it mostly on special occasions, not so much on daily basis. But, I had the first one and that can surely be worn everyday as it's much more lighter and summery than this one. Anyway, it always helps to try a small sample before purchasing a big bottle as it might not be what you want. I did that and it worked just fine. 

Last but not least, as promised, I will reveal a fragrance that will always stick with me no matter what. It does have a special place in my heart and it takes me back to better, happier days when I am wearing it. It smells way expensive than it actually is and the creator, known as the biggest diva of all divas, Mariah Carey, didn't hold back in using the best ingredients possible for a great product. With notes that embody her warmth, sensuality and glamour, you get a hit of Marshmallow, Sea Water, Gardenia, Incense and Amber plus more that add up to compose an ensemble of lyrical, seductive and limitless beauty. This perfume has the power of taking your spirit straight on an island beach, like you're about to watch the Sunset sipping a glass of Pinot Grigio around the bonfire, eating yummy toasted marshmallows and feeling really sexy, yet comfy and carefree.

I hope you liked my article and you might have got some inspiration if you are looking to find your perfect fragrance and you don't know what to start with. As you may have noticed, these fragrances have probably very similar notes of same flowers, spices and woody accents that set beautifully on the skin and give a pleasant, elegant, inviting, yet subtle scent. I mostly use two puffs on each side of my neck, one on the cleavage and one on my inner left wrist. I don't exaggerate or go 'crazy' spraying a big quantity. 

Less is always better.
